Aftermath
So it's finally Friday! Such a short week but I don't think I could of handled another day of school! However, today's classes went by fast and good, despite the very windy weather. Today in class we finally had our first mock-trials of interrogations and I could honestly say that they went successful! I never witnessed or participated in mock trials, it was offered at my high-school but I never took interest. I was honestly so nervous and started having cold feet because I thought it wasn't gunna be effective. I thought that we wouldn't be able to get a confession or even any evidence dealing with the prompt. Basically I didn't know how the turn out would be which discouraged me. However, what a complete surprise! The interrogations and interviews were extremely funny! It was such a fun new activity to take part in. I'm glad that though this is a writing course it is not writing papers right after another. Instead, Dr. Kyburz really tries to go the extra mile to accommodate for her students in a field that she did not study in. She truly thinks for her students and their future. I hope to do more interrogations because I feel like as a class we are finally getting more comfortable with each other and stepping out of our comfort zones. Everyone obviously has opinions and their own techniques, we just need to be more confident with stating and expressing those ideas in class. I feel like the interrogations were successful because we weren't shy, yes there were laughs, but we were being fun with it. Being shy is not going to get an interrogation anywhere which is why it's okay to be playful and have fun with the character assigned to you. I saw what Dr. Kyburz meant with follow up questions, I saw myself not using the script at all and just using whatever popped in my head during the moment. We were all role playing and it went great!
